Archived (since Route 22 is now reported as open): Alternate directions from the North due to damage from Tropical Storm Irene

A portion of Route 22 between exit 33 of I-87 and Willsboro is closed due to flooding damage. One alternate route is to take exit 34 and the Highlands Road; this detour adds about 4 miles and 19 minutes to your trip. A portion of this route is a well packed dirt road and another portion is a very scenic but twisty and winding road near the railroad on the west shore of Willsboro Bay. This is currently the fastest and shortest route to Willsboro from the north; the disadvantage is traffic including large trucks on a narrow dirt road. Note that Google Maps still identifies "Marina Lane" incorrectly as "Klein Drive". Direct Link to Directions:

The other alternate route is to take exit 32 and follow our directions "from the south" or the Google Map right below; this detour adds about 15 miles and 28 minutes to your trip. This route is 11 miles and 9 minutes longer than exit 34 and Highlands Road but all roads are paved. Note that Google Maps still identifies "Marina Lane" incorrectly as "Klein Drive".
